Slumbering Prince

"Slumbering Prince
In his early days he was a spoilt prince sick with power, charmingly misleading the women of the kingdom and bringing slavery to the peasants.
A sorceress then cursed him with eternal sleep, but hundreds of years later, the spell accidentally broke and a man madder than ever returned to the kingdom to restore his former power."

Latest bit of shareable character design.

Happy Halloween

In the spirit of spooky times to come, here's something a little different from my usual style.
Happy Halloween! :)

Character Design

Here are a bit of early-stage visuals on some of the latest characters I've been working on. This time we're in an imaginary era in the Greek or Roman Empire where both the sun and the moon are worshipped and have each their own order with these two priestesses belonging to the top of each chain.

One of Many Winters: Morphawn

So! Here is finally a whole page along with the end result of Morphawn, the main antagonist in 'One of Many Winters', a story from the Nightmare Theater collection. Guidance and feedback generously provided by Jim Moore. :)
Now back to work!

One of Many Winters: Morphawn

Here are some more quick silhouettes exploring the visual properties of Morphawn. He's slowly starting to take shape as the twisted, terrorising night demon he's supposed to be.

Another little project with Procreate (based on a photograph - hence the distortion).

One of Many Winters: Morphawn

Here are some more character sketches for Morphawn, the main antagonist in the One of Many Winters story. He's loosely based on H. C. Andersen's version of the Sandman.

Character Design

Meet Kitty, the latest addition to my character designs.
I saw a woman in the metro a while ago that inspired me to come up with this costume where the soft colours contrast a deadly nature. I don't remember if my character and the woman have anything more than the leopard patterned coat in common, but she was a distinguishable character for sure.
I love spotting "ordinary" people on the street that look like they just came straight out of a movie or a graphic novel!

iPad sketch

Was watching this year's Apple Design Awards when I saw the creators of Procreate receive an award. I've been using Artrage and Sketchbook Pro on my iPad, but none of them have an interface and a flow that allow me to just focus on painting/drawing while enjoying the process, and with time I simply lost interest in using my iPad for this. I was a little skeptical towards Procreate since the last two apps received really nice feedback as well, but I gotta say Procreate has really delivered a whole new level of fun and love for painting! It's just the right mixture of features, professionalism, performance and absence of distracting factors. It gets out of your way and let's you be creative.
So yeah, it definitely deserves a mention. :)

Character Design

This is a concept I worked on a while ago. In it, mythology has come alive through the futuristic science of biomechanical body repairs.
This centaur guy lost his lower part in an underground explosion and has since joined the Sky Phalanxes to put as much distance to claustrophobic, dark caves as possible.

Ship in trouble

Here's a rough illustration I did a year ago for my bf's dad's blog. It's accompanying a story about a Danish ship, a drunk crew member and... well, chaos.

Studies

I haven't posted ANYthing on this blog for too long now, 'cause most of what I've been doing recently, I can't show yet. So to prove the blog is still alive, here are a few colour/anatomy/facial studies and an unfinished illustration I'm experimenting on.
At the moment I'm studying colour a lot and trying to make use of bolder, livelier colour combinations.

Hope everyone is enjoying the Spring. Here in Denmark it's still snowing occasionally, and though Danes complain about it a lot, it's not a new climate trend here. At least the sun is popping out to radiate warmth and good vibes a lot more now. :)

Character Design

A quick, loose and sketchy dragon priestess. Her left eye is what often happens when you choose a life of dragon petting, or that life chooses you.

I've been drawing so much lately that I just wanted to check that I haven't forgotten how to paint.

Happy New Year, btw! :)
